Gala Dinner

What is a Gala Dinner?

Gala Dinner events can be held to celebrate, reward or engage an audience with a brand or service.

The evening event will generally feature a three of four course meal where guests are seated.

Gala dinners also often involve the presentation of awards such as long service awards, sales person of the year, etc. The standard dress for gala events is black-tie.

A Gala Dinner event or function will often feature entertainment, speakers and formalities, which could form a key part of the event’s theme (i.e. annual awards, sales incentive, lifetime achievements etc).

If the Gala Dinner is an award night recognizing excellence and achievements, it’s paramount to create and Award night event experience that reflects the quality, imagination and excellence of your brand, nominees and winners.

A Gala Dinner can range in size from an intimate event for 50 up to a large-scale affair of 10,000! Venues for such events can vary depending on the requirements but most Gala dinners are staged in function or event venues specifically designed to accommodate large numbers, production requirements and entertainment. Many corporate Gala dinners are often staged in inner city venues for easy access for guests.

Some events will have a theme or dress code that can be as unique as the event ranging from formal/black tie to crazy dress up themes. The venue can also be custom themed for the gala event with styling, lighting, sets, and props.

There are many elements that an event management agency or event producer needs to consider for a Gala Dinner and these include invitations, theme, entertainment, venue, content for speeches, trophies, catering, staffing, staging, table themes, AV production, lighting and production management.

Alive Events have produced memorable Gala events for a variety of brands and companies including Ford Australia, L’Oreal, City Of Melbourne, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, City Of Melbourne, MRC, Target, Banksia Foundation, Sigma and Bluescope Steel.
